BAGUIO CITY, Philippines  – A French tourist reported missing for seven days in Barlig, Mountain Province was rescued on Wednesday night.

Jacques Francioly, 70, was “very weak” when found in a ravine in Sitio Sikling, Barangay Latang.

Francioly was initially taken to the Barlig District Hospital for treatment and transferred to the  Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital, where he remains confined.

The tourist reportedly left Halfway Inn and Restaurant on Monday last week to tour nearby areas.

A search party organized by Barlig Mayor Clark Ngaya learned that Francioly did not avail himself of the services of a tour guide.

In 2017, South Korean tourist Choi Sun-kyu went missing and nearly died of starvation and fatigue when he ventured alone in the mountains of Barlig.
