JBC submits to Duterte 32 nominees to CA

MANILA, Philippines — The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) yesterday submitted to President Duterte 32 nominees to fill eight vacant positions in the Court of Appeals (CA).

The JBC informed Duterte that the council has interviewed 67 applicants. Of the number, 32 were selected to replace four former CA justices who were appointed to the Supreme Court (SC).Four other CA justices have retired.  

The nominees are Imelda Abadilla-Brown, Philip Aguinaldo, Selma Alaras, Anisah Amanodin-Umpa, Henry Angeles, Edgar Aricheta, Lorenza Bordios, Cecilyn Burgos-Villavert, Divinagracia Bustos-Ongkeko, Emmanuel Carpio, Gler Corpin Jr., Rowena de Juan-Quinagoran, Jose Lorenzo dela Rosa, Amado Dimayuga, Olivia Escubio-Samar and Wilhelmina Jorge-Wagan.

Other candidates for the CA posts are Raymond Reynold Lauigan, Mary Josephine Lazaro, Robert Nomar Leyretana, Virgilio Macaraig, Richard Mordeno, Mia Joy Cawed, Jennifer Joy Ong, Michael Ong, Bonifacio Pascua, Rex Bernardo Pascual, Roberto Quiroz, Felix Reyes, Nancy Rivas-Palmones, Rosanna Fe Romero-Maglaya, Emily San Gaspar-Gito and Maria Bernadita Santos. 

The CA justices who were appointed as SC magistrates were Associate Justices Ramon Paul Hernando, Rosemary Carandang , Henri Jean Paul Inting and Amy Lazaro-Javier.

The four other vacancies were created by the retirement of Associate Justices Normandie Pizarro, Carmelita Manahan, Sesinando Villon and Edward Contreras.
