Bulacan ’cracker-related injuries hit 125

MALOLOS, Philippines — The number of firecracker-related injuries in Bulacan has risen to 125.

As of noon yesterday, data from the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council showed 97 of the victims were males.

Of the 125 victims, 61 were injured as they were using firecrackers during the New Year revelry. The rest were onlookers.

The most number of injuries were due to kwitis with 31; luces, 22; fountain, 15; piccolo, 10;  five star, nine, and four each for using plapla and whistle bomb.

Thirty others were injured by unknown fireworks.

The town of Bocaue, the country’s fireworks capital, reported one injury.

The most number of injuries was reported in San Jose del Monte City with 18; the towns of Pandi, Hagonoy and Baliwag had 11 each, and Bulakan, 10.

The rest each registered a single-digit injury while the town of Donya Remedios Trinidad reported no firecracker-related injuries.
