MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Christopher Go distributed relief and financial assistance to fire victims in Manila on Friday.

He said he wanted to bring smiles to their faces this Christmas and fulfill his campaign promise to visit communities in need of government attention.

“Narito po ako para dinggin ang inyong mga hinanaing (I am here to listen to your grievances),” Go told the fire victims, comprised of around 100 families.

He also told students affected by the fire that he will provide them a new set of uniforms and school supplies to enable them to resume their studies immediately.

The victims also received assistance from representatives of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, National Housing Authority, Department of Trade and Industry and the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor.

Go also told the fire victims the nearest Malasakit Center is ready to help with their medical needs, particularly the financial aspect of hospitalization.

The senator explained to the fire victims that the Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop for all Filipinos, particularly the poor and indigent patients, where they can ask for assistance from the different government agencies now housed under one roof.
