2 killed in North Cotabato ambush

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines — Two persons were killed in an ambush in Tulunan town in this province on Thursday.

Police said Juanito Gulaya and Pablito Dulay had just met a leader of an indigenous tribe and were riding a motorcyle on their way home when they were waylaid.

The companions of the fatalities, Julito Mangalin and Loreto Villar who were riding another motorcycle, suffered multiple gunshot wounds. They remain confined in a hospital.

The incident triggered panic among residents, who are still reeling from recent powerful earthquakes that jolted parts of Mindanao.
