Magat Dam to release water

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Philippines — Residents in low-lying areas and near river channels have been told to brace for flashfloods as water would be released from Magat Dam in Ramon, Isabela today.

Edwin Viernes of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) flood forecast division said the water level in the dam breached the critical level of 190 meters as of 2 p.m. yesterday.

Isabela and Cagayan have experienced heavy rains since Monday due to the southwest monsoon.

On Tuesday, a driver in Cauayan City, Isabela was reported missing when his tricycle fell in Alicaocao River, which was swollen due to heavy rains.
