Moderately strong quake jolts Mindoro

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 3.5 earthquake shook parts of Mindoro on Monday night, but no damage or injuries were reported, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The tremor occurred at about 8:04 p.m. Its epicenter was traced some 18 kilometers southwest of Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro.

It was felt at Intensity 4, which is classified as moderately strong, in Puerto Galera and Intensity 3 in Calapan City and Abra de Ilog in Occidental Mindoro.

Phivolcs said the tremor had a depth of 18 kilometers and was tectonic in origin.
