3 dead, 3 hurt in shootings

MANILA, Philippines — A village councilman and two other persons were killed while a barangay chairman and a kagawad were wounded in gun attacks in Maguindanao, Pangasinan, Batangas and Laguna in the past two days.

Richard Galit, councilman of Barangay Concepcion, San Pablo City, Laguna, was shot several times while driving his Toyota Fortuner along Shetelig Avenue in Barangay 3-D on Monday. He died while being treated at the Panlalawigang Pagamutan ng Laguna.

Den Mark Albis and Gerardo Datinguinoo were shot dead by unidentified men in Barangay San Miguel, Sto. Tomas and Lipahan, San Juan, both in Batangas, respectively.

Safrola Buday, chairman of Barangay Dunguan in Montawal, Maguindanao, and his companions Norodin Omar, Ali Baganlan and Salipada Malalag were on their way home from a meeting at the municipal hall in Barangay Tunggol when they were ambushed in Barangay Layog, Pagalungan yesterday.

In Pangasinan, motorcycle-riding men shot German Torio, 55, barangay kagawad of Bonuan Boquig in Barangay Bonuan Gueset, both in Dagupan City, on Monday.

The victims remain confined in hospitals.
