P50-million ‘drugs’ found in Northern Samar

MANILA, Philippines — At least P50 million worth of suspected shabu were found in the waters off Northern Samar on Saturday.

The “drugs,” wrapped in three transparent plastic bags, were found by a fisherman near Barangay Pio Del Pilar in Biri town at around 2:35 p.m.

The fisherman turned over the bags to the local police.

Two of the bags contained two kilos each while the other had approximately 1.5 kilos.

Brig. Gen. Dionardo Carlos, Eastern Visayas police director, said the items were brought to the regional crime laboratory in Palo, Leyte for testing.

“At this point this is suspected drugs,” Carlos told radio dzBB.

Probers have yet to determine the origin of the items.
