Francis Zamora to open West Crame school today

MANILA, Philippines — San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora will lead the opening of the West Crame Elementary School today.

Zamora and his father, Rep. Ronny Zamora, will be the guests of honor during the ceremony at around 1 p.m.

The school was a priority project of the elder Zamora.

It was inaugurated on Dec. 8, 2015, but was never allowed to open by the previous administration on the grounds that bullets from the firing range of the Philippine National Police (PNP) would hit school children.

In 2017, then PNP chief and now Sen. Ronald dela Rosa and Education Secretary Leonor Briones issued a certification for the safety of the school. 

The Zamoras recently visited PNP chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde at Camp Crame.

Albayalde assured the mayor that additional security measures would be in place to ensure the safety of the students.
