Fastfood worker snatched in North Cotabato

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines — Gunmen seized a worker at a fastfood chain in Midsayap town in this province on Friday.

Police said 20-year-old Jake Omar Talusan was kidnapped on his way to work from a mosque in Barangay Sadaan.

Witnesses said Talusan was on a motorcycle when the gunmen flagged him down and forced him into a parked van.

Talusan sent a text message to his parents saying he was brought by his captors to Digos City, Davao del Sur, his relatives told reporters.

Intelligence agents of the North Cotabato police are locating the victim and his captors, Lt. Col. Aldrin Gonzalez, Soccsksargen police spokesman, said.

Friends of Talusan told probers the victim is a religious person and has no known enemies.

The kidnappers have yet to contact the family of the victim.
