Grab continues to deactivate colorum drivers

MANILA, Philippines — Brace for harder bookings with ridesharing platform Grab as the transport network company is set to continue its deactivation of colorum drivers today.

In a statement, Grab said the company would be deactivating some of its drivers who operate without provisional permit.

Grab has not responded to queries if it would continue to deactivate thousands of active transport network vehicle service units, as announced earlier. 

The deactivation of 8,000 drivers, which account for less than a fifth of Grab’s 45,000 fleet, is expected to affect commuters.

The move is seen to lessen the vehicle supply on the road, which may lead to longer waiting times and price surges. 

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board summoned Grab to appear in tomorrow’s hearing to explain the deactivation of its drivers.
