5 Rizal jail escapees recaptured

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna , Philippines  —  Five of the seven inmates who bolted from the Antipolo police community precinct 2 on Sunday have been recaptured.

They are drug suspects Edward Magdalo and Adrian Demetrio; Dominic Gabanez, who was charged with carjacking, and robbery suspects Benedict Belmonte and Russel Martinez.

Lt. Col. Chitadel Gaoiran, Calabarzon police spokesperson, said the inmates escaped by cutting the iron grill in their cell.

Brig. Gen. Edward Carranza, Calabarzon police director, relieved precinct police chief Lt. Amador Razo and Patrolman Christian Lagac following the incident.

Meanwhile, Gaoiran said inmate Marvin Nuñez jumped from a police vehicle and escaped from his escorts in Barangay Inarawan also in Antipolo after attending a court hearing yesterday.
