7 inmates bolt Antipolo jail

MANILA, Philippines — Seven inmates escaped from detention by sawing the iron grills of their cell in Antipolo City, Rizal on Sunday.

Brig. Gen. Edward Carranza, Calabarzon police director, relieved Lt. Amador Razo, chief of the Police Community Precinct 2 (PCP 2) and jailer Pat. Christian Lagac following the incident that occurred at around 3:30 a.m.

One of the fugitives, identified as Edward Magdalo, was recaptured shortly after the jailbreak.

Police launched a manhunt for six other inmates – Benedict Belmonte, Adrian Demetrio, Dominic Gabanez, Russel Martinez, Angelo Roberto and Murphy Sison.

The inmates were facing charges of carjacking, theft, drug possession and robbery. They were supposed to be transferred to a new cell of the PCP 2 in Barangay Dela Paz.– Ed Amoroso
