Businessman slain in Tondo heist

MANILA, Philippines — A businessman was killed in what police said was a robbery in Tondo, Manila on Friday.

Melchor Almazan, 48, was driving his Toyota Fortuner in Barangay 128 when he was waylaid by four assailants, riding two motorcycles, who shot at him. 

Witnesses saw one of the assailants steal the valuables of the victim, who was in the trucking business, from inside the car, prober Sr. Master Sgt. Lester Evangelista said.
