Spa in Manila raided over ‘extra service’

MANILA, Philippines — Police raided a spa offering “extra service,” usually sexual in nature, in Manila on Saturday.

Sheila May Genove, 22, was arrested for human trafficking by police officers of the Regional Special Operations Unit (RSOU) under the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) during the raid on Lavender Zen Spa in Bacood, Sta. Mesa at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

NCRPO chief Major General Guillermo Eleazar said his men rescued two women, aged 19 and 27, who claimed that their clients pay Genova P5,000 each for the “extra service.”

They earn P1,000 for each successful transaction, they said.

The two women said the establishment’s owner required them to be present every day and fines them P500 for each absence.
