2 missing in supermarket collapse found at home

Rescuers are still clearing the Chuzon Supermarket of debris and have expressed confidence that there are no more survivors or casualties left under the rubble.

MANILA, Philippines — Two of the five remaining missing persons in the quake-hit Chuzon Supermarket in Porac, Pampanga have been found safe at their homes.

Brig. Gen. Rowen Tolentino, chief of the Army’s 703rd Infantry Brigade, yesterday said those who remain  in the list of missing persons could have managed to save themselves.

As the search and clearing operations continue, Tolentino said people have stopped coming to look for their relatives.

He said this indicated there is no one left to search for and the next thing to do is to verify the whereabouts of those still in the list.

“They were not retrieved. They are alive, they are in their houses, they were able to go home,” Tolentino told journalists, referring to the two persons who were found safe at home.

He said it was likely that the last three persons in the list have also returned to their families.
