Drug suspect slain, 8 others nabbed

MANILA, Philippines — An alleged drug pusher died while eight others were arrested in separate stings in Metro Manila in the past two days.

In Valenzuela City, Oliver Pabaya, 37, was killed in what police said was a shootout at his house in Barangay Malinta.

Pabaya’s partner, Ma. Cristina San Miguel, was arrested in the operation.

Police said they recovered a loaded .38-caliber handgun from Payaba.

In Marikina, five suspected drug dealers were nabbed on Tuesday.

Police said the suspects were collared during a drug sting in Barangay Concepcion Dos.

They were Rachel Gutierrez, 47; Arnel Cambosa, 30; Percival Garcia, 48; Oliver Almazan, 39, and Jay Delgado, 28.

The suspects were placed under arrest after they allegedly sold a sachet of shabu for P500 to a policeman who posed as a buyer.

Two other drug suspects were apprehended by police in Pasay.

Probers said Ian de la Cruz, 36, and Ricmar Ariz, 32, were nabbed while allegedly engaged in a drug transaction.  – Emmanuel Tupas, Ghio Ong
