No leads in cop’s kidnap — Quezon City Police District

Romina Cabrera - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Investigators still have no leads in the kidnapping of a Quezon City policeman in Bulacan last week, an official said yesterday.

Probers are looking into all possible angles in the kidnapping of Cpl. Glenn Stuart Manila, according to Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Brig. Gen. Joselito Esquivel Jr.

“Obviously, he has enemies that’s why he was kidnapped. It could be job-related or interaction outside his job. Wala pang linaw,” Esquivel said in a phone interview.

Manila, assigned with the Batasan police station, was withdrawing money from an ATM booth at a supermarket in Barangay Loma De Gato in Marilao on Tuesday when two white vans arrived.

Closed-circuit television footage showed that Manila was kidnapped by armed men and dragged into one of the vehicles.

Manila’s red motorcycle was recovered by police in the supermarket’s parking lot.

Esquivel said they were coordinating with the Bulacan police to determine the suspects’ identities and motive behind the kidnapping.

The QCPD chief said they have yet to find out if Manila was involved in illegal activities.
