Party-list nominee hurt in Isabela campaign brawl

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan  , Philippines  —   A nominee of a party-list group was injured in a fight during a campaign rally in Barangay Fely, Maconacon, Isabela on Thursday.

Lawyer Allan Ty, 45, of the LPGMA party-list suffered a broken nose and a swollen mouth.

Police said the brawl occurred after supporters of Mayor Lycelle Vicente, who is seeking reelection, accosted her opponent, trader Abdulwali Villanueva, for loitering near the municipal gymnasium, where the administration party is holding a political rally, Col. Mariano Rodriguez, Isabela police director, said.

Villanueva was arrested.
