Actor Gabby Concepcion accused of falsifying land sale

Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Actor Gabby Concepcion is being accused by his younger brother of falsifying documents to transfer ownership of a parcel of land from their mother to himself.

Miguel Concepcion filed falsification of public documents against the actor last week in connection with the allegedly fraudulent purchase of an 890-square meter lot in San Juan City owned by their mother, Ma. Lourdes Arellano Concepcion.

Miguel’s lawyer, Tyrone Cimafranca, told reporters yesterday that the actor’s mother could not have sold the lot, located on P. Guevarra street, for P4.45 million because she was not in the country when the deed of sale was supposedly notarized.

During their appearance before the Criminal Investigation and Detective Group-National Capital Region (CIDG-NCR) office last week, Cimafranca submitted copies of Lourdes’ passport showing her departure and arrival in the country.

Cimafranca pointed out that while the signatories in the sale of the land were residents of San Juan, the notarization was done in Tagaytay City and the one who notarized the document was not listed in the registry of attorneys of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.

According to Miguel, he learned of the transfer of the ownership upon his return to the country two months ago after retiring from his work in the US.

A school is currently renting the lot and its buildings, he said.

“I kept asking him for a meeting to clear things up but he ignored all my requests,” Miguel said in an interview.

Superintendent Tom Ibay, CIDG-NCR chief, said he is gathering documents on the case before inviting the actor for questioning.

The STAR tried but failed to reach the actor for comment.
