Kidnapped trader found dead in Caloocan City

Marc Jayson Cayabyab - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A businessman was found dead in Caloocan City on Saturday, two days after being kidnapped by three still unidentified men.

The body of Camar Tampla, 49, was found with suffocation marks in the back of his Isuzu Sportivo in Tala Saturday.

His wife Esnaira reported the kidnapping to the police last Thursday.

The assailants barged inside the couple’s vehicle after they had it fixed along Quirino Highway,  according to Caloocan police chief Senior Superintendent Restituto Arcangel.

Esnaira was left behind by the men who drove away in their vehicle, with her husband inside.

An informant told police about a Sportivo left in Brixtonville Subdivision, Arcangel said.

Police are still investigating the motive for the killing. No items were missing from the vehicle.

Police are checking closed-circuit television footage to determine where the vehicle was taken before it was abandoned, said Inspector Joe Mar Ronquillo, Caloocan police chief investigator.
