7 drug suspects slain in Laguna
MANILA, Philippines — Seven suspected drug pushers were killed in police operations in Laguna since Saturday.
Norberto Barredo, alleged leader of a criminal gang, reportedly shot it out with law enforcers serving a warrant of arrest in Barangay Pooc, Sta. Rosa at around 11:30 a.m. yesterday.
Adan Abarkis, alias Adan, who was on the drug watchlist, reportedly drew his gun when he sensed he had sold shabu to police officers who posed as buyers in Barangay Canlalay, Biñan also yesterday.
Senior Superintendent Eleazar Matta, Laguna police director, said Donald Royeras, alias Mcdo; Garry Ebit, Fernando Custodio, a certain Daniel and Romano Pecho, alias Manny, were killed in drug stings in Biñan, Nagcarlan, San Pedro, Pagsanjan and Calamba, respectively, over the weekend.
Also in Laguna, two suspected robbers, who have yet to be identified, were killed in a running gunbattle with police officers in Barangay Makiling, Calamba before dawn on Sunday, according to Superintendent Harold Depositar, city police chief.
P28.8 million shabu, marijuana
In Zamboanga City, Maria Wee, 32, alias Indah, yielded a kilo of shabu with an estimated street value of P6.8 million in a sting in Barangay Upper Calarian on Sunday.
Wee was arrested after selling shabu worth P1.2 million to undercover agents.
Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Luis Licup, Zamboanga peninsula police director, said a cell phone, a fragmentation grenade and government-issued identification cards were also recovered from the suspect.
In Cavite, Sariff Macmod, 42, yielded around two kilos of shabu valued at P11 million in a sting in Barangay Pasong Camachile, General Trias on Saturday.
Jayvee Canillo, 21; Charles Liclican, 26; Joshua Manzano, 22, and Nicole Meneses, 23, all residents of Baguio City, were arrested in a sting in Angeles, Pampanga. Dried marijuana leaves worth P1.05 million were reportedly recovered from the suspects.
”High-value” drug suspects Alma Akmad, Basir Tantong, his wife Vilma and Mhads Maintal were apprehended for alleged possession of P10 million worth of shabu in Cotabato City also on Saturday. – Non Alquitran, Ding Cervantes, John Unson, Roel Pareño, Raymund Catindig
