Policewoman demands luxury bag, P50,000

MANILA, Philippines — A policewoman was arrested in an entrapment operation at a convenience store just outside the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame on Friday.

Senior Police Officer 1 May Ann Malcontento, assigned to the Anti-Transnational Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), was apprehended after she received a Louis Vuitton bag worth P34,000; a P2,999 watch and P50,000 marked money from her victim at around 5:40 p.m.

The Counter-Intelligence Task Force reported that it set up the operation after Malcontento’s victim – who was arrested for illegal recruitment and estafa, but the charges were later dismissed – told the CITF that the policewoman was always demanding items from her in exchange for not being harassed or being subjected to a CIDG operation.

Malcontento is under CITF custody and faces charges of robbery-extortion.
