150 families homeless, 2 hurt as fires hit Quezon City
MANILA, Philippines — Two persons were injured and over 150 families were left homeless when two separate fires struck Quezon City on Sunday.
The first fire broke out on the second floor of a house at the corner of Samonte and Don Sergio streets in Barangay Holy Spirit at past 1 p.m.
The blaze reached the third alarm before it was put out at around 2:34 p.m.
Areen delos Reyes, 20, suffered third degree burns while Armando delos Reyes sustained a laceration on his left knee.
Fire officials said 45 houses were destroyed by the blaze.
Damage to property was estimated at P450,000.
In Barangay Commonwealth, 55 families were displaced when a fire hit a residential area along Calachuci street.
The fire started shortly before 7 p.m. and was declared under control at around 8:20 p.m.
Arson probers said around 30 houses were razed by the fire.
Authorities said they have yet to determine what caused the twin fires.
