Tricycle driver shot dead in Malabon City
MANILA, Philippines — A tricycle driver who was an alleged user of illegal drugs was gunned down by a still unidentified assailant in Malabon Sunday night.
Virgilio Cardenas, 46, was found with gunshot wounds in the head at an alley in Barangay Catmon at around 10:20 p.m.
The victim’s wife told police her husband left their home that night in Marulas, Valenzuela without his tricycle. He was found dead in Malabon hours later, according to case prober Police Officer 2 Jose Romeo Germinal II.
Police recovered a box of cigarettes that contained four sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride from the victim’s person.
Drug charges against Cardenas had been dismissed and the victim’s name was not on any drug watchlist, probers said.
Four empty cartridges of a .45 caliber pistol were found at the crime scene.
