2 Chinese, Filipina face kidnap raps

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday filed criminal charges against two Chinese and a Filipina for the alleged kidnapping of a fellow Chinese in Parañaque City.

Cases of kidnapping for ransom and serious illegal detention were filed against Luo Jianzhong,  36, and Luzo Zhiqiang, 33, along with their Filipina cohort Liezel Inojalda before the Department of Justice.

Senior Superintendent Glenn Dumlao, head of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG), said the suspects, believed to be members of a loan shark ring, allegedly kidnapped Zhirong Lin, 56, in front of casino in Barangay Tambo on Oct. 13.

Dumlao said the suspects initially demanded from Lin’s family a ransom of 200 million yuan, which they lowered to 160,000 yuan.

The victim’s relatives sought the help of the AKG, which conducted an entrapment operation at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay City on Oct. 19.

Police arrested the suspects in a Toyota Innova at the airport’s parking lot where they held Lin.

The victim is recuperating in an undisclosed hospital from injuries he suffered in the hands of his captors, probers said.
