MMDA tows PNP vehicle

MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) towed a Philippine National Police (PNP) service vehicle that was illegally parked in Quezon City yesterday.

Bong Nebrija, MMDA supervising operations officer, said the PNP vehicle was illegally parked along Second Avenue in Barangay Bagong Lipunan at Camp Crame while its driver allegedly underwent a neurological exam.

MMDA enforcers were compelled to tow the vehicle after the driver failed to appear in five minutes – the grace period allowed motorists who leave illegally parked vehicles unattended, he said. The vehicle was brought to the agency’s impounding area in Marikina City.

Nebrija said the driver appeared when enforcers were on their way to the impounding area.

He appealed to motorists to follow traffic rules as their contribution to ease the traffic problem in the metropolis.

The MMDA is conducting clearing operations to decongest Metro Manila’s inner roads, which serve as alternate routes at a time when several road projects are being undertaken by the government, Nebrija said.
