Ex-village chief in Cagayan gunned down

TUGUEGARAO, Cagayan, Philippines — A former barangay captain was shot dead by motorcycle-riding men in Barangay Mambacag, Tuao, Cagayan on Wednesday.

Gregorio Cabigas, 57, was feeding his ducks with an 11-year-old boy when he was shot several times.

Prior to the killing, the victim reportedly received death threats through text messages.

In Batangas, Rico Carinan was in front of his mother’s house in Barangay 4, Nasugbu when gunmen in a white car alighted and opened fire.

Investigations into the killings are ongoing.
