MANILA, Philippines — Four suspected drug pushers were killed in separate encounters with police in Manila and Caloocan yesterday.

Rolando de Vera, who was on the drug watchlist, died after he supposedly engaged police in a firefight in Binondo.

Prior to this, police said they managed to buy shabu from De Vera.

De Vera allegedly yielded 14 sachets of shabu and a 9mm pistol.

Drug suspects Becha Chino and Arthuro Flores were shot dead by police in another sting in Tondo.

A suspected drug pusher, known only as Mat, was killed after a brief chase by authorities along Dagat-Dagatan Avenue in Caloocan.

Fireman, brod held for drugs

In Quezon City, a member of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and his brother were among the more than 40 drug suspects arrested by police since Tuesday.

Fire Officer 1 Rudy Remigio, 47, was nabbed along with his brother Enrico, 38, after they were identified as clients of alleged drug pusher Alfredo Mandioya, 28.

The suspects were collared at a house along Pedro Bukanig street in Barangay Sta. Lucia.

The elder Remigio was assigned with the BFP National Capital Region.

In another drug bust, Masambong police nabbed three suspects and confiscated P80,000 worth of shabu and firearms.

Mark Lester Ang, 25; Nida Ang, 66, and Mario Dolim, were apprehended along Camata street in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa.

The suspects were included in the barangay’s drug watchlist, police said.

The suspects allegedly yielded 25 grams of shabu, a .45-caliber handgun and P16,000 in marked money.

Several other drug suspects were rounded up in Barangays Sta. Monica, Pasong Tamo, Culiat, Baesa, Sto. Domingo, Kaligayahan, Holy Spirit, Matandang Balara, Bagumbuhay, Pansol, Pinyahan and Damayan Lagi.

In Pasig City, three persons were held by police for alleged drug possession.

They were Donabel Ramos, 45, a call center agent; Omar Ampang, 33, and Ronald Mesia Britanico, 40.

In Manila, a suspected drug courier for a “ninja cop” was arrested with P4.42 million worth of shabu.

Amelita Sabino was nabbed by operatives of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in a sting along Palawan street in Sampaloc.

Sabino was held shortly after she allegedly handed over 600 grams of shabu to a policeman who posed as a buyer.

NCRPO chief Director Guillermo Eleazar said Sabino was the alleged drug courier for PO2 Yolly Aliangan, who was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation in May 2016.
