Caloocan minor’s slay prompts stricter curfew

Marc Jayson Cayabyab - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Caloocan Mayor Oscar Malapitan yesterday ordered the police to strictly enforce the curfew following the killing of a 14-year-old boy by a fellow out-of-school youth.

In an interview with The STAR yesterday, Malapitan said the 15-year-old suspect – who also reportedly stole motorcycles – will be turned over to the city’s social workers and charged with murder.

A closed-circuit television (CCTV) video showed that the boy beat Rogelio Arpon Jr. to death as revenge for shooting him with a homemade gun as scores of people gathered to watch along M. de Castro street in Barangay 144 at past midnight on Aug. 24.

Malapitan has asked police to locate the persons who watched the attack so they can be charged with conspiracy.
