6 drug, crime suspects slain

MANILA, Philippines — Six suspects, three of them alleged drug dealers, were killed in separate incidents in Luzon in the past two days.

Cris Ilmeng, 26, a resident of Barangay Jordan, Sinait, Ilocos Sur, was driving his tricycle when he was shot by unidentified assailants in Barangay Katipunan yesterday.

Police said the victim, who was facing drug charges, was recently freed on bail.

An alias Peri was killed in an alleged shootout with police officers during a drug sting in Barangay Atulayan, Tuguegarao, Cagayan also yesterday.

Jeffrey de Dios was killed when he reportedly drew his gun when he sensed he had sold shabu to undercover agents in Cavite City on Monday night. 

In Batangas, police said Jeffrey Escobido, who was ranked second on the list of most wanted persons in Calabarzon, and his girlfriend Jhoan Escano were killed when a grenade he was holding exploded in his car as they tried to escape after law enforcers served a warrant of arrest at his hideout in Barangay Caloocan, Talisay also on Monday.

A man who has yet to be identified was shot dead after he refused to pull over at a checkpoint and fired at police officers along Marcos highway in Barangay Inarawan, Antipolo, Rizal.

In Ilocos Norte, murder suspect Helgie Mabanag was killed in a reported shootout with police officers serving a warrant of arrest at his house in Vintar town.

Sachets of marijuana and shabu and a caliber .45 pistol were among those recovered from the fatality, police said. – Ed Amoroso, Non Alquitran, Jun Elias, Emmanuel Tupas
