MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon will continue to affect the country even as a low-pressure area has been monitored east of the Visayas.
Chris Perez, weather forecaster at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysicial and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), yesterday said the low-pressure area was spotted 1,360 kilometers east of the Visayas.
Perez said the weather system might enter the country this weekend.
In a bulletin issued at 4 p.m. yesterday, PAGASA said the southwest monsoon would bring scattered to widespread rains over Mindanao, Western Visayas as well as the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Mindoro and Palawan.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.
