3 NPA rebels killed in Camarines Norte

LEGAZPI CITY , Philippines —Three New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed in an encounter with soldiers in Jose Panganiban town in Camarines Norte yesterday.

An AK47, two M16 rifles, an M14, a rifle grenade and two improvised explosives were recovered from the rebels who retreated after an hour of gunfight, according to Capt. Joas Pramis, 9th Infantry Division public affairs officer.

Pramis said government troopers clashed with an undetermined number of communist guerrillas in Sitio Banasi, Barangay Sta. Cruz at about 6:30 a.m.

Pursuit operations for the rebels are ongoing. – With Cet Dematera
