5.2 quake jolts Luzon
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude-5.2 earthquake shook several areas in Luzon, including parts of Metro Manila, yesterday. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tremor occurred at 12:25 p.m. and its epicenter was traced 25 kilometers southwest of Nasugbu town in Batangas.
Videos posted on social media showed people evacuating from office buildings in Manila as Phivolcs warned the public of possible aftershocks.
The temblor was felt at Intensity 4 in Lubang and Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro; Intensity 3 in Buco, Talisay, Tumaway and Calatagan towns of Batangas; Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; Looc and Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro; Tanza and Maragondon, Cavite; Mandaluyong City; Quezon City and Clark, Pampanga.
It was felt at Intensity 2 in Manila and Parañaque cities, and in Plaridel and Malolos towns in Bulacan. – With Mayen Jaymalin
