KIDAPAWAN CITY, Philippines — The city government and the National Housing Authority will construct 322 more houses for impoverished families in the capital of Cotabato province.

Lawyer Christopher Cabilen, legal officer of the Kidapawan City government, said Tuesday that representatives from the NHA and the mayor's office inspected the proposed site for the housing project in Barangay Sudapin last week.

The city government bought the five-hectare land in Barangay Sudapin for a socialized housing project years ago in a transaction approved by the Commission on Elections.

City officials earlier said the NHA had signified readiness to allocate P24 million for the new housing project, which is also intended for families displaced by armed conflicts.

Cabilen said Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista is grateful to the NHA for its commitment to help put up the housing project on a five-hectare land in Barangay Sudapin.

The NHA and the Kidapawan City government, the capital of North Cotabato province, had jointly constructed in past years hundreds of houses for poor families in three other sites.

The planned construction of 322 more houses in Barangay Sudapin is the fourth phase of the housing projects in the city.
