Drug war: 2 slain, 25 arrested in Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines — At least two drug suspects were killed and 25 others ar­rested in Metro Manila over the past three days.

Sebastian Medina was killed in an alleged shootout with police during a drug sting in Pandacan, Manila at around 9 p.m.

Also arrested during the sting were Sally Bandung Santua, 44; John Lourd Inacay, 28; and Charissa Cuaresma, 25, call center agent.

Police recovered 10 sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia and P1,000 marked money from the suspects.

In Taguig, a still unidenti­fied drug suspect was shot dead in a taxi while the cab­bie was wounded after still unidentified assailants shot them repeatedly in Barangay Central Bicutan yesterday morning.

Senior Superintendent Alex Santos, city police chief, said the suspect died at the scene while taxi driver Al­berto Tubo was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Three sachets of shabu and a 9mm bullet casing were re­covered from the crime scene.

In Caloocan, Senior Police Officer 1 Joel Tobera, formerly with the Pampanga provin­cial police, was allegedly caught using shabu along with six others – Leo Padillon, Carlo Raciles, Mark Nicolas Cruz, Arjie Luayon, John Paul  Sayasa and Loraine Calimag – in a house in Barangay 177 Tuesday night.

Tubera went AWOL or ab­sent without leave and started work as an armored van driver before he was caught in a drug session, case investigator Police Officer 1 Juan Miguel Mad­langbayan said yesterday.

Also caught in separate drug sessions, this time in Pasay City, were Rogelio Balite Castil, 43, and Eleazar delos Santos Jalocon, 26, last Wednesday.

In eastern Metro Manila, five persons were caught in separate drug stings: Sheila Samson and Aldrin Hebres in Marikina; and Juanito Santos, Marvin Reyes and Jeffrey Quimson in Mandaluyong.

Ramil Fesaldon, Elmer Mingi and Ariel Naniong were arrested in a sting in Barangay Longos, Malabon Wednesday night.

In Quezon City, five males, including a 17-year-old, were caught with P15,000 worth of marijuana in a sting in Baran­gay Greater Lagro yesterday.

A policeman who posed as a buyer was allegedly able to buy P10,000 worth of marijuana from John An­drew Maddela, 20; Arrysh Gamboa, 20; Allen Brix, 18; Rogelio Bacani and the minor. – Marc Jayson Cayabyab, Ghio Ong, Non Alquitran, Romina Cabrera
