Araw ng Maynila: Erap to honor outstanding employees, elderly

MANILA, Philippines — The Manila city government has lined up several activities for the week-long commemoration of the 447th Araw ng Maynila.

The celebration kicks off today with the awarding of outstanding employees to be led by Mayor Joseph Estrada at the city hall’s Bulwagang Villegas at around 2 p.m.

Estrada will also honor the city’s elderly during the “Gabi ng Parangal Para sa mga Nakatatandang Manilenyo” at the Universidad de Manila.

He said this year’s celebration would highlight the city’s numerous achievements and historical events.

From June 19 to 21, the Division of City Schools will lead the awarding of outstanding educators at the Century Park Hotel and a free concert to be led by the Manila Youth Bureau in Rajah Sulayman Park.

On June 20, Estrada will award Filipino artists who have excelled in architecture, painting and cultural arts.

Outstanding city employees, teachers, judges, prosecutors and police officers will be awarded at the Manila Hotel at 7 p.m. on June 21.

Outstanding Taxpayers and Manilans will be honored at the Manila Hotel at 7 p.m. on June 22.

 On June 24, Estrada will attend a thanksgiving mass at the San Agustin Church at 7 a.m.
