The Philippine Star

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Three persons were injured when a boulder fell on a sport utility vehicle (SUV) along the Kennon Road in Benguet shortly before noon yesterday, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.

The incident occurred at the Tokang section of the highway located at Camp 3 in the town of Tuba, DPWH foreman Jojo Flores said.

He said the Toyota Fortuner with three persons on board was headed toward the lowland from the city when it figured in the accident at around 11:30 a.m.

Ginalyn Gadap and her children – Zech, 2, and Xiehl, 4 - were brought to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.

The children’s father Police Officer 2 Jefferson Cadap, who was driving the vehicle, was not hurt.

The Kennon Road was opened to motorists at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, several days after it was closed to traffic due to the risk of possible landslides.

The province of Benguet, including Baguio City, has been experiencing continuous heavy rains for more than a week.– PNA
