OFW shot dead at wedding party

TUGUEGARAO, Philippines — A vacationing overseas Filipino worker was killed while his three relatives were wounded in a shooting that broke out during a wedding party in Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur shortly after midnight yesterday.

Florante Tabuso, 36, died at the scene while Palmie Susa, 36; Liezel Agcamaran, 33, and Joshua Rubang, 10, were taken to a hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.

The victim and the suspect, identified as Police Officer 2 Jun Christopher Briones of the Special Action Force were guests at the house of a certain Renato Antonio in Barangay Naglaoa-an.

Tabuso and Briones, who were cousins, reportedly had a long standing grudge, according to Senior Inspector Robert Valiente, town police chief.

Briones approached Tabuso’s group and offered a handshake, which the latter reportedly refused.

A quarrel broke out between them and resulted in the shooting.

Briones fled after the incident.
