Mayor’s aide shot dead
MULANAY, Quezon, Philippines — A security personnel of this town’s Mayor Joselito Ojeda was shot dead by unidentified assailants here yesterday morning.
Ruben Subia, 60, was on a motorcyle when two men on another motorcycle shot him at past 5 a.m. in Barangay Sta. Rosa, according to town police chief Senior Superintendent Osmundo de Guzman.
Subia died at the scene from several gunshot wounds.
Witnesses said the assailants fled toward nearby Catanauan town.
Ojeda said that one of his political leaders received reports that some contract killers were out to kill him and his security personnel.
“So the report is true,” Ojeda said after learning what happened to Subia.
Probers are eyeing an old grudge as among the motives for the killing. – Ed Amoroso
