79-year-old Australian man stabbed to death in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — An Australian man was found dead at his residence in Sitio Marabo, Barangay Mambaroto, Sipalay, Negros Occidental over the weekend.

The body of Teunis Van Dalen, 79, which bore a stab wound in the chest, was in an advanced state of decomposition, according to Chief Inspector Nasser Canja, Sipalay police chief.

Initial investigation showed there was forcible entry into the house of the victim. Probers have yet to determine if there are missing valuable items.

Canja said the victim had been a resident of Sipalay for the past 20 years.
