VP poll recount hits snag anew
MANILA, Philippines — The recount of votes in the 2016 vice presidential race hit another snag yesterday after airconditioning units in the venue bogged down.
Insiders said all 16 airconditioners in the gymnasium on the fifth floor of the SC-Court of Appeals Building broke down at around 1:30 p.m.
This prompted the Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), to suspend the manual revision of votes of Vice President Leni Robredo and former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Sources said the technicians saw a problem in circuit breakers connected to the airconditioners, but were not able to resolve it immediately.
It was learned that all airconditioners in the venue are new.
It was the third time that the recount encountered hurdles since it started on April 2.
Meanwhile, Robredo celebrated her 53rd birthday yesterday working in her office. Robredo’s daughters Aika and Tricia took to social media to greet her.
In separate posts on Twitter, the sisters described the Vice President as a “cool mom.”
