MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.7 earthquake jolted parts of Eastern Visayas on Friday, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported yesterday. 

The quake, which occurred at about 1:20 a.m., was felt at Intensity 4 in Borongan and Intensity 3 in Llorente, Maydolong, Salcedo, San Julian and Sulat in Eastern Samar and Catbalogan, Samar. It was felt at Intensity 2 in Palo, Leyte. 

There was no reported damage from the quake, but National Risk Reduction and Management Council executive director and OCD administrator Ricardo Jalad directed disaster officials to undertake precautionary measures and monitor the situation.
