MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has received P3.6 million in financial aid from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) for the purchase of motorcycles to boost its anti-crime campaign.

NCRPO chief Director Oscar Albayalde accepted the donation from PAGCOR chairman and chief executive officer Andrea Domingo in a simple turnover ceremony at the agency’s office in Malate, Manila on Thursday.

Albayalde was accompanied by Manila Police District (MPD) director Chief Superintendent Joel Coronel.

The NCRPO chief said the lack of motorcycles has been hindering the training of policemen on motorcycle riding.

Domingo said providing law enforcers with additional vehicles to patrol the metropolis was necessary to prevent crimes.

“We did not think twice about extending the financial assistance to the NCRPO for the purchase of motorcycles because it will help boost their campaign in keeping the streets of Metro Manila safe from criminals. We need to enliven further our tourism industry, and we can only do this if we have a peaceful place,” Domingo said.

In 2015, PAGCOR gave financial aid to the Philippine National Police for the acquisition of 15 patrol cars for the MPD.
