Drug suspect slain; drug den dismantled

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A suspected drug pusher was gunned down in Negros Occidental on Wednesday.

Junbert Calumba, 27, was shot along the highway in Barangay 1 Poblacion, San Carlos City.

Initial investigation showed the fatality, who was on the barangay drug watchlist, had an argument with the gunman over their drug deals.

Chief Inspector Robert Indiape, city deputy police chief, said a manhunt for the assailant is underway.

In Zamboanga City, seven persons were arrested as operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) dismantled a drug den in Barangay Camino on Thursday.

Jeanifer Mondares, 32; siblings Paulita, 43; Rodrigo, 32, and Bobby, 30, all surnamed Tubil; Raymond Farallon, 42; Mark Albia, 26, and Abdel Alamia, 41, are high-value targets, PDEA director Lyndon Aspacio said.

Sachets of shabu weighing 23 grams with an estimated street value of P115,000 were allegedly recovered from the suspects.

Six other persons were collared in drug stings in Zamboanga City and Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay also on Thursday.
