Drug suspect killed

MANILA, Philippines — A suspected drug dealer was shot dead in Calamba, Laguna on Friday.

Police said John Himler, 28, was in the middle of a drug transaction in Barangay Parian at around noon when he was shot.

Witnesses told police the victim was with two persons known only by their aliases of Anthony and Manang when the shooting occurred. It has yet to be determined if one of Himler’s companions was the gunman.

Himler suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.

In Leyte, four persons were arrested in drug stings, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported yesterday.

Among those arrested were Dioscoro Montuya, 38, a reservist of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Basilio Atrihenyo, 53. The suspects reportedly sold .2 grams of shabu for P1,000 to a PDEA operative in Barangay Pawing.

Barangay utility worker Joven Tumandao, 34, and Kris Amago, 38, were collared in Tacloban for allegedly selling shabu to PDEA agents who posed as buyers in Barangays 78 Marasbaras and 59 Picas Sagkahan, respectively.
