4 drug suspects slain

MANILA, Philippines - Four more drug suspects were gunned down on Thursday.

Police said two men known only by their aliases of Jay and Jack-Jack drew their guns when they sensed they had sold shabu to anti-drug operatives in Barangay Poblacion, Guiguinto, Bulacan and San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal, respectively.

Motorcycle-riding men shot Michael Antonio and a certain Russel in Barangay Cutcut also in Guiguinto. Four sachets of shabu and four bullet shells for a caliber .45 pistol were reportedly recovered at the scene.

Thirteen other suspects were arrested in stings in Bocaue, Sta. Maria, Paombong and San Jose del Monte. At least 42 sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia and marked money were recovered from the suspects, police said.

Six were nabbed in Olongapo City and two in Candon, Ilocos Sur on Thursday and one in Calabanga, Camarines Sur yesterday.

Enrico Gonzales, executive officer of Barangay Zapote 3 and city hall employee of Bacoor, Cavite was arrested after he reportedly yielded 2.7 grams of shabu and a .38-caliber revolver during a raid on his house on Thursday. – Ric Sapnu, Ramon Efren Lazaro, Eva Visperas, Ed Amoroso, Francis Elevado, Celso Amo, Emmanuel Tupas
