3 dead in Bataan, P’sinan mishaps

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga  , Philippines – Two persons died while 16 others were injured when a jeepney rolled over in Bagac, Bataan on Saturday morning. 

In the afternoon of the same day, a tricycle driver died while his three passengers were injured when his vehicle collided with a van in Sta. Maria, Pangasinan.

May Kawamura, 39, and Yannie Sanguyo, 30, died while being treated at the Bagac Community Medicare Hospital.

The fatalities were among a group of excursionists from Floridablanca, Pampanga who were headed to a beach in Bagac when they figured in an accident in Barangay Binukawan.

Seven of the passengers were transferred to the Bataan General Hospital in nearby Balanga City.

Driver Edmundo Bamaceda, 55, told investigators that the vehicle developed engine trouble as he was driving down Gov. J.J. Linao Avenue.

Bamaceda lost control of the wheel, causing the jeepney to hit a power post before it rolled over.

Meanwhile, Julio Queliza, 52, died after his tricycle was hit by a Mitsubishi van driven by Joel Ronquillo, 37, of Pozorrubio town.

The victim died while being treated at the Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital.

Queliza’s passengers Norma Gazmen, 69; Emily Baltazar, 49, and Jewel Queliza,5, were taken to the same hospital for treatment.
