Cebu grad tops mechanical engineering board exam

MANILA, Philippines -  A graduate of the University of Cebu topped the licensure examination for mechanical engineers, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has announced.

With a score of 88.10 percent, Brylle Gilbuena led 1,083 of 1,904 examinees who passed the board exam.

The PRC said 19 of 39 examinees also passed the certified plant mechanic licensure examination.

Nino Rey Caraig, a graduate of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, placed second with a grade of 87.80 percent. Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology graduate Ariel Conversion was third place with a score of 87.45 percent.

Batangas State University (BSU) graduates Kim Xzyrell Mendoza and Jose Joseph Patulot ranked fourth and fifth with grades of 87.40 percent and 87.20 percent, respectively.

Sixth placer was Irene Lara Abad of the Mindanao State University who got a grade of 86.95 percent, followed by Bernard Lou Buquiz of the Mapua Institute of Technology, Dan Mark Cuevas also of BSU with 86.85 percent and Rasul Richy Palanggalan of the Ateneo de Davao with 86.75 percent.

Another BSU graduate Teody Rey Magbujos and Denzel Maxino of Mapua got 86.45 percent and 86.20 percent, respectively.

BSU posted a 100 percent passing rate in the examination.
